Top 10 Ways to Spend or Celebrate Christmas in Singapore (2026)
Top 10 Ways to Spend or Celebrate Christmas in Singapore (2026)

1. Orchard Road — Christmas on A Great Street

The classic, and still the best free night out. The light-up runs 17 Nov 2026 – 3 Jan 2027, 3.1km from Tanglin Road to Dhoby Ghaut, this year in three shades of gold — the "Season of Golden Joy" theme. Lights are on 6.30pm–12am Sun–Thu, to 2am Fri–Sat, and to 6am on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
- Great Christmas Village: Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza 13 Nov – 3 Jan, Shaw House Urban Plaza 20 Nov – 3 Jan, 3pm–10pm daily. Free to walk in; rides and games are paid. Look for the Santa House snowfall shows, the LEGO Santa's Toy Factory (ages 4–12, 13 Nov – 22 Dec), and the Marvel Christmas Trail in front of ION from 13 Nov.
- Great Christmas Eve Street Party: 24 Dec, 8pm–12.15am, Orchard Road closed between Paterson and Bideford junctions.
- Cost: free to walk the lights. Best for: everyone — couples, families, a first date, a group of friends.
2. Christmas Wonderland, Gardens by the Bay

Singapore's biggest ticketed Christmas fair, back for its 13th edition. Supertree Grove and The Meadow, 27 Nov 2026 – 3 Jan 2027, 6.30–11pm, last admission 10.15pm. Expect the Spalliera light sculpture, Blizzard Time foam snow, carnival games and rides, festive shopping, and a Flying Santa over The Meadow.
- Cost: ticketed. 2026 prices had NOT been released when this was checked on 8 Nov 2026 — do not quote a 2026 price yet. As a guide only, 2025 tickets started from $9 per adult. Book as soon as sales open; peak nights sell out.
- Best for: a full festive night out with kids, or a date night with the snow show.
3. Marina Bay lights walk — MBS, Spectra and the Supertrees

One evening, three free light shows, on foot. Start at Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza for the resort's Christmas decorations, watch Spectra — A Light & Water Show (free, Sun–Thu 8pm and 9pm, Fri–Sat plus 10pm), then walk across Helix Bridge to Gardens by the Bay for Garden Rhapsody: The Christmas Special, 27 Nov 2026 – 3 Jan 2027, 7.45pm and 8.45pm daily, free.
- Cost: free (unless you go into a ticketed attraction on the way).
- Best for: couples and anyone who wants the Christmas feeling without a ticket or a crowd indoors.
4. Shop the Christmas markets

Singapore's market season starts early in November. Pick one, go with a list, and buy the gifts that are hard to find in a mall:
- The Christmas Atelier, MBS Convention Centre Hall C: 12–14 Nov, Thu 1–9pm, Fri–Sat 11am–9pm. 130+ artisanal brands, 8th edition. $8 one-day / $14 three-day, children 10 and under free.

- Best for: Christmas-party gifts and decorations, and gifts for hosts, kids and family.
5. Changi Festive Village — Pokémon Christmas at Changi and Jewel

This year's takeover is Pokémon's 30th anniversary. Changi Festive Village runs 3 Nov 2026 – 3 Jan 2027 across Terminals 1–4 and Jewel; Jewel's displays stay up to 31 Jan 2027.
- Snowfall shows at Terminal 3 Departure Hall, 9 Nov – 3 Jan, 7.30pm and 8.30pm daily (extra 9.30pm Fri–Sun). Pikachu, Eevee and Snorlax meet-and-greets on select weekends 14 Nov – 20 Dec. Jewel Forest Valley has the First Partner Pokémon parade and giant TCG card displays.
- Cost: free.
- Best for: families with young kids, and anyone who grew up with Pokémon.
6. Sentosa — Resorts World Sentosa Season of Joy

A resort-wide Christmas, 27 Nov 2026 – 3 Jan 2027: A Universal Christmas at Universal Studios Singapore (10-metre Confectionery Christmas tree on Hollywood Boulevard, new musical The North Pole Jingle Jam, Santa and Hello Kitty meet-and-greets), Glowcean Wonderland at Singapore Oceanarium (underwater Santa dive, 4pm daily except Mon and Fri), K-Wave Christmas at Adventure Cove Waterpark, and festive installations at WEAVE.
- Cost: WEAVE and public spaces are free to walk; the theme park, Oceanarium and waterpark need admission. Check the official Season of Joy page for ticket prices and show times for your date.
- Best for: a full day out with kids, or a staycation — The Laurus has a Season of Joy bundle (min 2 nights, breakfast and attraction tickets included; price not published in the release checked).
7. Host Christmas at home — invite friends, cook together

The quiet one, and often the best one. Invite friends over, cook one dish each, and spend real time together instead of queuing somewhere.
- Keep it simple: one roast or one-pot main, one salad, one dessert, and a cake ordered in advance. Most bakeries need 3 days' notice (5–7 for premium or customised cakes), so order by 22 Dec for Christmas Day.
- Make it a potluck so no one person is cooking all day. Give each guest one thing to bring — a starter, a side, a dessert, or drinks.
- If kids are coming, give them a job: decorating the table, making place cards, or a simple bake they can do in the morning.
- Cost: whatever you spend on groceries — usually far less than a restaurant Christmas dinner for the same group.
- Best for: close friends and family, and anyone who is tired of crowds by mid-December.
8. A mini getaway — Bintan, Batam or Desaru

Christmas Day is a Friday in 2026, so a long weekend is easy: take Thursday 24 Dec off, or just do a 2D1N over the weekend.
- Batam: about 45–60 minutes by ferry from HarbourFront / Tanah Merah. Return ferry about $87 all-in (ticket + terminal fees + fuel surcharge, checked 31 Oct 2026). Best for spa, seafood and resort pools at Indonesian prices.
- Bintan: about 1 hour by ferry from Tanah Merah to Lagoi. Return about $87 on a weekday promo, $100 standard ($110 peak). Best for a calmer, resort-led beach weekend.
- Desaru Coast: about 90 minutes by ferry from Tanah Merah, about $132 return. Best for a proper beach resort weekend, 2D1N or 3D2N.
- Book early: peak fares apply most weekends from 6 Nov and every day 18 Dec – 4 Jan, and Friday-evening / Sunday-afternoon boats in December sell out first. Check passport validity (6 months) and ferry times before you pay.
- Best for: couples and families who want Christmas to feel like a holiday, not just a day off.
9. Book a festive feast out

If cooking is not the plan, book the meal instead — but book it early. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day set dinners and buffets at hotels and restaurants fill up weeks ahead, and prices vary widely by venue, so check the restaurant's own page for the 2026 menu and price rather than relying on last year's.
- A practical split: Christmas Eve dinner out with friends, Christmas Day lunch at home with family — or the other way round.
- If you are booking for a group, confirm the minimum spend, the seating time limit, and whether a deposit is needed. Many festive menus are set menus only on 24–25 Dec.
- Best for: groups who want the celebration without the cooking or the washing up.
10. Slow down on Christmas Day — carols, a walk, and a long lunch

Christmas Day itself (Fri 25 Dec 2026, public holiday) is the quietest day of the season. Use it that way.
- Celebrate Christmas in Singapore runs 16–22 Dec on Orchard Road, with 200+ performers from Singapore and overseas — carols and live music, free to watch.
- Or keep Christmas Day simple: a morning walk or picnic at the Botanic Gardens or East Coast Park, a long lunch, and an early night. The lights are still on until 3 Jan, so there is no rush to see everything on the 25th.
- Best for: anyone who has spent the weeks before Christmas running around — this is the recovery day.
